Meraki Editions - Customer FAQ

Overview

We offer multiple editions of our system to support the specific needs of our various customers. Whether you're a community, small business, or large carrier, you can use Meraki to build, manage, and support your network.

Existing Customers - please see how the new editions work with your existing networks.

What editions do you offer?

We currently offer three editions:

  • Standard, for individuals and community organizations interested in setting up free, advertising supported networks
  • Pro, for property owners and small operators who wish to use our billing suite or control access
  • Carrier, for service providers interested in large-scale deployments that integrate Meraki into existing subscriber management systems

For a more detailed overview of our various editions, please see the edition overview.

Can I use multiple editions simultaneously in the same network?

All of the repeaters in a Meraki network work together, so they must be part of the same edition to share the same set of capabilities. For simplicity, the edition is set by the first repeater that you configure as part of a network.

Note: Repeaters with different editions will work together in a network, but the network’s edition will be determined by the most general edition. For example, you can use Pro repeaters in a Standard network, but they will operate as if they were Standard repeaters.

Can I change the edition of a single repeater or network?

You can upgrade the edition of an entire network by contacting our sales department. We plan to make this an automated process in the future.

Can a single Dashboard account have networks with different editions?

Yes. You will see that the edition features in the Dashboard change depending on which network you have selected. However, as a best practice to avoid confusion, we recommend keeping all networks in a given account at the same edition.

Does Meraki provide additional support for the Pro or Carrier editions?

Your support level for a given network is determined by the edition. For details on the support level for a given edition, Please see Support for details.
