Meraki Introduces Residential WiFi Pack Featuring New Wall Plug WiFi Device
New WiFi Offer Can Provide Broadband Connectivity Throughout Residential Complexes with Unparalleled Speed and at Unparalleled Price
SAN FRANCISCO — November 19, 2008 – Meraki, an award-winning provider of wireless networking solutions, today introduced its new Residential WiFi Pack to assist property managers and owners in providing reliable broadband wireless access throughout apartment complexes, condominiums, hotels and more. Featured in the pack is Meraki’s newest WiFi device, the Meraki Wall Plug, specifically designed for rapid deployment in large residential complexes.
Residential WiFi Pack
Demand for WiFi at apartment, condominium and dormitory complexes is certainly on the rise. According to a Fall 2007 survey by J Turner Research, wireless Internet access was the 2nd most sought after amenity by tenants, with more than 80% of respondents citing it as a feature they demand. Meraki’s residential pack provides property managers/owners with everything they need to meet the growing demand for wireless broadband by delivering world-class wireless technology that can be deployed quickly and at a fraction of the cost of other solutions in the market. The pack is designed to blanket the average 100-unit residential complex with WiFi for less than $5,000.
“People want to be able to access the Internet everywhere, especially in their home,” said Sanjit Biswas, CEO and founder, Meraki. “Just as important, property managers need a solution that works, not one that creates tenant complaints and more headaches for all involved. Our new Residential WiFi Pack gives property managers and owners a fully-featured wireless solution of unmatched affordability that just works. And it can be deployed in hours not weeks.”
The Residential WiFi Pack is available for a limited time only, and includes a special 60 day money-back guarantee. For residential complexes looking for someone to help, design, deploy or manage the solution on their behalf, Meraki will introduce them to a certified partner to handle the roll out. Meraki Wall Plug
The Wall Plug is Meraki’s latest three-in-one gateway, access point and repeater. It is specifically designed for rapid and secure deployment in residential complexes. The Wall Plug is installed by plugging it into a standard electrical outlet; it takes one to two minutes. At about the size of two decks of cards, it is small enough to fit discretely in hallways or behind furniture. It also features innovative secure mounting brackets that allow you to screw the device directly into the wall or outlet. The brackets deter theft and prevent accidental unplugging.
University Hills is a residential community near Toledo University that competes heavily with other nearby housing options when it comes to attracting college students. The property manager knew that offering reliable WiFi to tenants could help lower vacancy rates and improve resident satisfaction, so he called on InspireWiFi (www.inspirewifi.com), a Meraki certified partner to install a network.
“We needed something that was both reliable and flexible due to the heavy demand for bandwidth from student residents,” said Steven Scheck of InspireWiFi. Scheck also needed the means to add coverage quickly when users overwhelmed an access point with large downloads. The Meraki Wall Plug fit the bill perfectly. Scheck built a property-wide network with Meraki Outdoor devices then distributed Meraki Wall Plugs to any tenant who noted a weak signal. Within days, all bandwidth issues were eliminated. According to Scheck: “In the time it takes to install a Glade Plug-In, you can install a Meraki Wall Plug. It enabled us to complement the existing network by boosting areas with weak signal fast.”
Meraki devices are powerful 3-in-1 wireless gateways, access points and repeaters. Once plugged into a power source, Meraki devices immediately talk to each other over the Internet to form a network. Meraki’s software-as-a-service (SaaS) enabled management Dashboard ensures that connectivity across the network is optimized and reliable. Together, Meraki’s hardware and SaaS deliver WiFi in a fraction of the deployment time, a fraction of the management time, and a fraction of the cost versus other solutions.
