Independent Research Firm Features Meraki In Higher Education Wireless Network Case Study

“ the choice of [Meraki]… paved a path for new services and communications channels previously unthinkable on [a] small campus.”

SAN FRANCISCO—April 27, 2010— Meraki, the cloud-based wireless networking company, announced today that it was featured in a new Forrester Research, Inc. Case Study called “The All-Wireless Campus: A Westmont College Case Study.” The report “explores how the choice of an infrastructure methodology that was a bold departure from that of many peer organizations enabled Westmont to usher in a new era of connectivity and IT service to its constituents.”

In a passage of the report, it was noted that “the experience of rolling out the Meraki network has delivered net positive results for the campus, enabling a greater use of the college network from more places, ushering services such as the school’s advanced mobile application and, in the process, has delivered cost-positive benefits in [capex reduction], [opex savings] and [future investment avoidance].”

Santa Barbara, Calif.-based Westmont College chose to deploy Meraki for its campus-wide indoor/outdoor 802.11n network as part of a comprehensive cloud-based infrastructure. Westmont was the first college in the U.S. to deploy a campus-wide cloud-managed wireless network, choosing Meraki over other vendors. Since then numerous higher-education institutions have deployed Meraki on their campus, including Stanford and MIT.

“It’s exciting to see the analyst community recognize forward-thinking approaches to campus technology solutions, and we’re happy to be included as a key anchor point in this college’s success,” said Kiren Sekar, Product Marketing Manager at Meraki.
