Powerful User Interface

Meraki’s Cloud Controllers provide a unified view of all your network sites and statistics, including both access points and clients devices. Centralized, redundant databases capture and archive detailed statistics, which can be filtered through a powerful but intuitive user interface. For example, network administrators can filter for the heaviest bandwidth users across all sites, isolate all devices by manufacturer or single out a particular user and then block access, all within seconds.

Tight Integration

The Meraki system eliminates the need to maintain multiple costly network control systems in the backend. Network access control, quality of service, management and statistics archiving systems are all integrated together and provided through a single cloud service, which is constantly updated with real-time statistics and control. Any policy changes made through the web interface are automatically applied network-wide without requiring lengthy outages or multiple system restarts.

Multi-Site Expansion

Expanding a network to cover additional sites or branch offices is as simple as registering a device with the service and mailing it to the remote site. Once an access point is plugged in, it automatically establishes a secure connection back to Meraki’s datacenters where it receives configuration information and begins reporting statistics – no specialized VPN or MPLS tunnels are required, eliminating additional configuration and potential points of error or failures.

Continuous System Tests, Alerts and Automatic Upgrades

Meraki’s Cloud Control also provides several online services and XML APIs, which extend beyond the capabilities of traditional hardware-based solutions. Every access point in a Meraki network continuously monitors throughput and latency, as well as upstream connectivity and network services. In the event of an issue the system will automatically notify administrators by e-mail and provide troubleshooting tools and statistics, before end-users even notice an issue. New features and testing tools also become available automatically through continuous system upgrades, so administrators don’t need to track additional patch sets and release notes.
